In their words the aim is to\u00a0explore <em>&#8220;the story of the Elizabethans from the Queen, the nobility and gentry to the many other talented individuals such as explorers, soldiers, merchants, artists and writers&#8221;<\/em>. Click\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npg.org.uk\/whatson\/elizabethi\/visit.php\">here<\/a>\u00a0for directions, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npg.org.uk\/whatson\/elizabethi\/film.php\">here<\/a>\u00a0to watch curator Tarnya Cooper introduce the exhibition. This was the BBC adaptation of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Time-Travellers-Guide-Elizabethan-England\/dp\/0099542072\/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1381429127&amp;sr=1-1&amp;keywords=the+time+traveller%27s+guide+to+elizabethan+england\">excellent book<\/a>. There will be cake.<\/p>\n<p>If you have never visited an art gallery then the National Portrait Gallery is a great place to start. It\u00a0is a very special place, and it is free (although the exhibition itself is \u00a311.50).
